His face is soo beautiful, just an ease of tranquility and peace within his gaze! this truly is one of the BEST thangkas of guru rinpoche you can find!
This is a very large piece measuring 25 x 20 inches! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST QIALITY THANGKAS OUT T!! The brocade frame of the Thangka also holds symbolic meaning. The inner frame of brocade (often red) can be thought of as a rainbow gateway beyond which lies the pure land inhabited by the deity the Thangka represents. Attached to the top of the frame is a rectangle of colored silk which is long enough to hang all the way down to the bottom of the painting. This acts as a cover for the Thangka and allows it to be 'put to sleep' when it is not in use, as well as acting as a protective dust cover to keep the painting safe when it is stored. This material we use is the highest grade traditional Tibetan motif brocade, t are a great deal of Chinese brocade symbols out t used with a blend of materials to create- what the Chinese sellers use known as" poly-silk:" but we utilize only the highest grade varanasi pure silk and classical Tibetan brocade to mount our thangkas . The finished painting is sewn within a brocade frame and finished with ribbons and silk to protect the image. It is important to understand that you will not find a single thangka in a monastery, or from my own experience, the home of dharma practitioner who uses the thangak for meditation aid displayed without silk brocade. It is of course your choice to have your thangka framed in the "western" style of framing with glass and wooden frame but this is not in accordance to instructions given in the Sadhnas for the final finishing and display of thangka art. Having thangkas framed glass can be very detrimental to your thangka in the long run if they are exposed to yellow light or constant sun and if the wrong kind of glass is used. These both have the effects of wearing the intensity of color, causing chipping on the paint and dulling the intensity of the gold work over a period of time. PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT EXPOSED TO EITHER OF THE ABOVE. Unlike having them framed in the traditional manner w one may put them sleep at night by placing the protective silk veil above the canvas to protect it from excessive sunlight or when one is asleep so it is not exposed unnecessarily one is not able to do this with glass frames. A few words about framing thangkas that are not mounted in brocade. It is a good idea to use glass that is ultra violet glass for the best protection. The glass should not touch the thangka. Acid free cardboard should be used. Please for the safety if your own thangka use either matte, and special non-reflecting glass that is almost invisible making sure they are ultra violet. If you take steps to frame your thangka in glass properly then you should have no problems as I have seen some thangkas look exceptional when mounted in glass frame. However another major downside of this is that it costs a good $100 MORE than normal glass that you definitely do not want to use. I offer traditional silk mounting in the more exquisite designs and colors to accent your thangka and allow you to display it in the TRADITIONAL manner. I seek to make absolutely zero on this service merely allow you to pay respect to this sacre...
