This is a Franklin Mint, National Historical Society, Civil War Chess Set! It includes a Certificate of Authenticity and it is dated for April 7, 1983. All 32 Pieces are solid Pewter and solid Brass made with fine enamels. The attention to detail is AMAZING! The 12 5/8 X 12 5/8 board is trimmed in wood and is in great condition. It has never been used. This set retails for $700.00. Would be a great gift for a Civil War Buff. Each figure represents important Northern and Southern people who lived during the Civil War. They are: Kings: Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee Queens: Clara Barton and Belle Boyd Bishops: George Mead, William Tecumseh Sherman and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Pierre G.T. Beauregard Knights: Phillip Sheridan, George Armstrong Custer and Jeb Stuart, Joseph Wheeler Rooks: Cannons and Mortars Pawns: Iron Brigade and the Stonewall Brigade This would make a perfect Christmas Present for the Civil War Enthusiast or Chess Player in your family.
