This beautifully and skillfully hand painted mug is in very good and original condtion, having no chips, cracks, nicks nor damage of any king. The stunning piece measures 4 inches in diameter at the rim and stands at 6 inches high. The artist has beautifully hand painted background colors of yellow, burnt umber, and deep brown...all of which subtly change from one to the other. In the foreground is an absolutely stunning and detailed portrait of an apparent peddler who wears an old shabby hat which covers his apparently fuzzy gray hair. His eyebrows are very full and fuzzy gray. He has piercing and detailed blue eyes. His overcoat looks to be made of corduroy and covers his shirt which is neatly held with a tie. The detail of the peddler is just outstandingly done! There is a lovely relief around the base of the mug and the handle is ornately designed. The green backstamp "T&V Limoges France Depose'" is Mark 8 as found in Mary Gastons Third Edition of the Collectors Encyclopedia of Limoges, is underglaze and dates from 1907 to 1919.
