The Black Sands of Iwo Jima... Offered is a very unique Iwo Jima collectable souvenir... It is a 60th anniversary 8 vial Iwo Jima invasion beach sand display which contains authentic Iwo Jima sand that was collected from all seven of Iwo's invasion beaches which were named: Green, Red 1 & 2, Yellow 1 & 2 and Blue 1 & 2 plus Mount Suribachi... These 8 vials rest in a cherry stained, gloss finished oak display base featuring distinctive gold on black lettering and emblems for the U.S. 3rd, 4th & 5th Marine divisions. Included with each display is a glossy 10 photo sheet showing Iwo Jima as it exists today plus a certificate of authenticity, a map of the island & a photo description list... As an added bonus a glossy photo of the 2 original U.S. flags that were raised atop Suribachi will also accompany each display, these 2 very historic flags were on display at the Iwo Jima reunion in Mclean Virginia on February 19th 2005 and I was fortunate to be able to snap a photo of them... Much more than just a plastic bag of black sand this hand crafted display takes all 7 of Iwo's historic invasion beaches plus Suribachi and incorporates them in to a beautiful display that any veteran, family member, historian, collector or enthusiast would be proud to own and display and it also makes a great Christmas gift...
