This gorgeous antique Limoges porcelain soup tureen with eight matching flat rim soup bowls by Theo Haviland was produced in France in the late 1880's and is a real find in such excellent condition. The delicate purple floral transferware design on the white porcelain is lovely and gold gilt highlights have been incorporated into the decoration of the molded handles on the lid and ends of the tureen as well as the base. The eight matching 9 3/4 inch diameter flat rim soup bowls as well as the tureen and it's lid are all in extremely good condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines or staining to any of the 10 pieces in this group. T is some minor wear to the gold gilt on the handles. The tureen itself stands 8 inches tall and measures 13 3/4 inches across handle to handle. The tureen is decorated with flowers inside and out. The lid and the tureen both are marked in green underglaze "Theo Haviland , Limoges, France" and then what looks like Sol over Lafayette, Patent Applied For" which probably makes reference to the pattern. The bowls are simply marked "Theo Haviland, Limoges, France" as also shown in my close ups photo's. I've included a number of photographes in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, condition and overall beauty of this terrific 10 piece group.
