Item 1 Invitation from President Theodore Roosevelt, and his wife, Edith, to a reception at the White House to be held Thursday evening January the seventeenth, nineteen hundred and seven, from nine to half after ten o’clock. The invitation is to: “Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson. Item 2 Larger envelope that contained all the items “White House envelope addressed to: Rev. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Hutchinson 1454 Euclid Street “ Item 3 Slightly smaller envelope that contained an even smaller envelope. “Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson” Item 4 Small envelope that contained the Admittance Card to the Reception. “Not Transferable” Item 5 Admittance Card to the Reception “Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Hutchinson Will please present this card at the door of the White House Thursday evening January the seventeenth” This package is unusual in that contains all of the envelopes, the invitation and admittance card. Many times you find only one of the items offered for sale. The items are in good condition. On January 14, 1907, an earthquake in Kingston, Jamaica killed more than 1,000. President Theodore Roosevelt ordered a U.S. Navy Squadron to provide help to the victims. Rear-Admiral Davis landed U.S Marines without the consent or approval of Sir Swettenham, British Governor of Jamaica. Swettenham ordered the Marineds to leave. Theodore Roosevelt read more
