BEAUTIFUL THICK WOVEN FRENCH TAPESTRY - BIRD / FLORAL / ANIMAL DESIGN in tones of rose and blue, with other soft accent colors. "Tapestry du Lion" woven in wool and cotton.
Size is 50 ½ inches wide by 62 ½ inches long. The tapestry is circa 1970's and is in very good condition. The tapestry has a lining stitched to the back on all 4 sides. T is a large tag on the back with some writing in French and in English. (See photo) The tag gives the history of the scene on the front. Label says: TAPISSERIES DU LION. The colors are good. Very soft tasteful colors. Soft shades of blue and rose against a beige background, with other soft accent colors. The design and the colors are even - no fading. Part of the design is a nine-inch border on all 4 sides with garland and floral design, and women playing the mandolin. The design has a texture to it - when you touch the front of the tapestry you can feel how certain parts of the tapestry are slightly raised - it is almost like it was sculpted out of the fabric. The tapestry weighs about 7 pounds before any packing materials to give you an idea how thick it is. T are metal clips across the top back to hang this on your wall. Would certainly be impressive - even more than a painting. ALL SALES FINAL. I am selling items that have some age to them. Naturally t will be irregularities and flaws just because of the age.
