You are bidding on one T Thomas (or perhaps I THOMAS) complex wood molding or moulding plane as pictured. It is marked "T THOMAS" and owners MARTIN and B GADD all on the front end, and MARTIN twice more on the back end.AWP4 (American Wooden Planes 4th Edition, a must-have book if you collect American molding planes) has a UR (Unrated and tfore very rare) listing for T THOMAS, and notes that he was a Baltimore maker in 1842. I think the initial on this plane is an I rather than a T, but the mark is obviously the same. Overall length is 9-5/16", and the body is 1-1/2" in width. The wedge is a modern replacement and clearly not original. It features the full boxing, which is unusually wide for an American plane.Condition, other than the missing wedge, is very good to excellent. The boxing is just about perfect. T is some funny staining on the left side, and the fence section has been shortened a bit and has three small holes from a long removed addition to the fence. Other than that, it is excellent, with great color and patina. Please see my other current as well as upcoming auctions, as I am or will be listing many more collectible planes and tools. I typically list in batches of similar tools, and sitting right now in the queue are a LOT of British and European molders, more American molders, metal planes, bevels and squares, and some great chisels and slicks. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and pictures only of the left side when the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I sell lots of parts, and if you are nervous that I am swapping parts, please understand two things about me. One, I never seem to have the part I need, so t aren't many opportunities, and two, if I have swapped anything, I will tell you. If I think the wedge on a molding plane is not original, I will tell you. If I think a japanned plane has been repainted, I will tell you. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. MY PET PEEVE: is having my response to your question bounce back with an undeliverable email address. If you want me to take the time to carefully answer your question, then I want you to take the time to make sure that the email address that you have registered with eBay is correct. Just because you have the correct address with PayPal does NOT seem to guarantee that you have the correct address with eBay. I would guess that 1 response in 10 is not deliverable.US SHIPPING: Everything changed back on May 14 with the price increase from the US Post Office, and so I have adjusted my shipping terms. Unless noted otherwise above, the fixed amount quoted buys you UNINSURED Priority Mail to anyw in the US. On auctions ending under $100.00, I will give you the option of adding insurance at cost. On auctions that end over $100, I require that you purchase insurance. I will combine on multiple purchases to save on shipping whenever possible (see below), and I accept Paypal or money orders. On purchases under $50, AND if you have good feedback, I will also accept a personal check. COMBINED SHIPPING: If you are thinking about bidding on several items, especially small but heavy items like tools, I can often ship 2 or 3 or 4 items for not much more than one. The trick is whether or not I can use one of the Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes from the US Post Office. The cost is fixed, except for insurance, no matter what the weight, and no matter w in the US you are. These boxes are not huge, and a #7 or #8 plane won't fit, but I can just get TWO #6's or 3...
