I consider this autograph to be authentic but, no, it as not been submitted to any of the authenticating services. This information may also be helpful to you in assessing its authenticity:This autograph comes from the one and only Rosemary Swartz collection .Ms. Swartz was a public schoolteacher in the small community of Lima, N.Y., in the 1930s probably into the 1960s.She started a fun project for her students and her school. For many years running, Ms. Swartz and her students sent letters to notable figures in the fields of government, entertainment, sports and military affairs seeking autographs for the school's collection.What she ended up with was a treasure trove of celebrity autographs , most of them on original letterheads/stationery or other paper products that verify their authenticity and give them considerable value. When the Lima Public School was shut down due to consolidation, the school allowed Ms. Swartz to keep the autograph collection!We have purchased the entire collection intend to offer each item for sale on a one-by-one basis, so check "Seller's Other Items " frequently for your shots at Bobby Kennedy, Mary Pickford, Joe (Beak) Renko, Mickey Cochrane, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Truman, Gary Cooper, Wendell Willkie and dozens more!These are great collectibles, well-preserved and quite valuable. If you combined the letterhead, signature and photo, you could make a very nice and significant/rare display that will surely appreciate in value.About Thomas Dewey (Wikipedia): Thomas Edmund Dewey ( March 24 , 1902 âe" March 16 , 1971 ) was the Governor of New York (1943-1955) and the unsuccessful Republican candidate for the U.S. Presidency in 1944 and 1948 . As a leader of the liberal faction of the Republican party he fought the conservative faction led by Senator Robert A. Taft , and played a major role in nominating Dwight D. Eisenhower for the presidency in 1952 . Dewey first served as a federal prosecutor, then went to lucrative private practice on Wall Street; however, he left his practice for an appointment asspecial prosecutor to look into corruption in New York City-- with the official title of Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. It was in this role that he first achieved headlines in the early 1930s, when he prosecuted bootlegger Waxey Gordon.Dewey had used his excellent recall of details of crimes to trip up witnesses as a federal prosecutor; as a state prosecutor, he used telephone taps (not illegal at the time) to gather evidence, with the ultimate goal of bringing down entire criminal organizations.Additionally, he relentlessly pursued gangster Dutch Schultz , both as a federal and state prosecutor. Schultz put into action a plan to assassinate Dewey while Dewey made his daily morning pay phone call into work from a pharmacy close to his home. Crime boss Lucky Luciano called an emergency meeting of The Mafia Commission , the Mafia's ruling body, to decide on the proposal. The Commission unanimously rejected the idea, fearing that if Dewey was murdered, the FBI and federal government would wage all-out war on the Mafia; the members then ordered that Schultz be killed due to his unpredictability. Shortly tafter, Dewey turned his attention to prosecuting Lucky Luciano . In the greatest victory of his legal career, he convinced a jury to convict Luciano of being a pimp who ran one of the largest prostitution rings in American history.
