THOMAS FISK GOFF1890-1984CALIFORNIA IMPRESSIONISTABOUT THE ARTIST Thomas Fisk Goff was born in London, England on August 15, 1890. He is known for his impressionist landscapes of Central California coastal and inland areas. His favorite subjects were the old barns of the Central Coast and Morro Rock at Morro Bay, California. By the 1920's Goff had settled in Los Angeles, California. As the owner of Crescent Sign Company he was the designer of the world famous Hollywood sign (declared a national historic site in 1973). In the 1930's he was an employee of the Federal Arts Project. For 25 years he served as the California Field Director for the American Red Cross. He was a prolific painter and exhibited widely. Goff died in Atascadero, California on January 30, 1984. He is listed in Artists In California: 1786-1940 (Hughes), the Artist's Bluebook (Dunbier), and at AskART.com. The back shows the artists address label and a hand written notation describing this image as "Golden Glow At Hobson Barn (Santa Margarita Ranch)". Goff has also signed
