Vintage metal bust bank of Thomas Jefferson advertising the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company. This bust of Jefferson is a replica of the one sculpted by Houdon in 1789, and cast in a bronze finished spelter metal with excellent sculptural detail, dating this from the 1930's-40's. The front is inscribed with Jefferson's signature, and the back reads "JEFFERSON STANDARD LIFE INS. CO." The coin trap is missing, so the underside is hollow. There is a small open crack in the back of Jefferson's head near his ponytail. Otherwise, this advertising bust is in great shape with an authentic vintage patina worn with age. The bust stands 6" tall on a 3.5" by 2.5" base. This is the best casting of the Jefferson bust bank, and one that definitely shows its age. Good luck on your bid.
