A Holiday Gathering was created by Thomas Kinkade as a tribute to Norman Rockwell. Thomas Kinkade has been a longtime student of Norman Rockwell and remained very close to him throughout his life. The man with the dog and the red and black checkered coat and hat represents Kinkade with his wife and the old man behind him in the beige coat and hat is represents Norman Rockwell. The scene represents Kinkade taking over in Rockwell's footsteps & wearing Rockwell's famous red and black checkered flannel coat after his passing. A Holiday Gathering features 4 hidden N's in tribute to his wife, Nanette and is the first painting in the Christmas Cottage series to feature a Victorian home. The home pictured is an actual Victorian home found on University Avenue in Los Gatos, California.
