This is a beautiful, Thomasville brand mahogany, Duncan Phyfe style china cabinet. It is also known as a break front. It dates from the 1940's era, and is in great condition. The Duncan Phyfe style was very popular in this era, and is still very popular today. It is in a rich, burgundy-red mahogany. ( Here in Oklahoma, we call this stain, cherry-mahogany, if that helps in describing the color of the wood.)
It has its original finish, and has not been refinished.
I took this picture with items in it, so that you could see the fretwork over the glass doors, which both open to allow full access to the inside of top of the china cabinet. Below the glass display area is a single drawer, which spans the full width of the piece. Below the drawer is a carved piece in the Greek Key pattern. Below that are 2 doors, which also both open to allow full access to this area. There is applied wood trim on the drawer and doors, and all the knobs and handles are original.
PLEASE NOTICE the beautiful, carved, open top of the cabinet. It is unusual, and in great shape.
Please excuse the glare on the right side of the cabinet, but I wanted to get close enough that you could see the detail on the handles of the drawers. They have a 3 column building in the background. NO, the finish on the piece is in excellent condition, and NOT SPLOTCHED, like the picture shows!!! I'll try to get a better picture later.
The china cabinet measures 36 1/2" wide, 16" deep and 81" tall.
I purchased this set from the son of the original owner. His father had passed away, and the son was moving, and was unable to take this wonderful piece.

If you are interested in having the china cabinet shipped to you, I know a shipping company that will pick it up, pack it and crate it, ship it to you, and deliver it to your house. If you would like for me to contact them, I would be glad to, or to give you their name. If you know of another freight company or want to pick it up yourself, I will be glad to work with you or them also. It will both fit in a full size pick up, or a full size utility van, which is what we drive.
