I have accumulated far too many 'Wood and Brass Cameras' which I currently no longer need, some were sold last week and I am listing the remainder this week. Photos will shortly be uploaded of the lens and here are the details:- A very attractive example (albeit with some work required to the bellows) of a Thornton-Pickard triple extension Field Camera, presumably "The Imperial" although the maker's name does not state the particular model. I am assuming that by the colour of the varnish/wood that this is a 'Tropical' version and this should be a very collectable itemThe Camera came to me with a lens but this was neither a decent match for the Camera or particularly appropriate either. I'm therefore including a perfectly respectable Taylor, Taylor & Hobson Rapid Rectilinear together with a fitting flange, particulars of which are mentioned belowHere are details for the Camera itself:- the wood and the (very bright) brass are both in a lovely state; the bellows extend to approx 22"; the two bellows extension knobs works exactly as they should; the (black) bellows have a number of holes but there is every chance that if they are carefully patched with black tape, that they will become 'light tight'; there are more movements than average with this line of Camera, tilt on both standards being one and there will also be a very decent amount of swing on the rear standard too; the ground glass is in a pretty decent state with there being a few marks on the inside of the glass; the T-P 'Time & inst' shutter is working (which is fairly unusual); a very good adapter plate is in place, which should ensure that modern tripod sockets can be attached (although I have not tested for this); and the carrying handle is showing signs of wear but is still fairly usable The lens is a very decent 7.2" f8 (with stops to f45) Taylor, Taylor & Hobson Rapid Rectilinear c/w it's original flange and a small rectangular lens board, which measures 87 x 64mm. Although there has been some loss of brass on the barrel, the remaining brass is in a very decent fairly bright state. The iris is currently a little stiff but this will loosen up with regular use. There is a ding to the small built in lens hood. Glass wise, clear and bright, a little evidence of past cleaning can be seen but otherwise, free of defects. Lenses of this design are 'true convertibles' which will mean that longer focal lengths will be obtained when either of the two elements are used solely All in all and despite the amount of restorative work that is required to the bellows, this is a very decent item indeed and I am also including one wooden plate holder, which is a perfect fit All of my items are sent tracked and insured and I always leave feedback for the items that I am selling as soon as I receive payment from the purchaser I attempt to be very scrupulous with the description of the items that I am selling - if a bidder requires any further information, then do please contact me.
