Up for auction are three , matching 19th Century ironstone plates, decorated in an Imari-style palette but manufactured by one of the Staffordshire potteries in England. The plates measure approximately 6 3/4" in diameter. The bases are unmarked except for four digits: 6521. Deep cobalt blue, iron red, green, and gilt accents cover the cream-hued ground, and the plates' rims and edges are scalloped lightly. A bit of the gilding on the edges has worn off over time. Two plates have light discoloration, primarily on the reverse sides; the other has a set of spidery hairlines on its reverse side, one of which is visible on the front, as well as a bit more discoloration. It sounds worse than it is; see the photos for details. Overall, the plates display very nicely. [This auction is for all three plates for one money.]
We also have a matching pitcher that is being auctioned separately; please check our other items . We are happy to combine auction winnings to reduce shipping costs.
