Very rare Tibaldi Modello 20-L Fountain Pen in Beautiful smooth and shiny Gray - Black Tibaldi Celluloid. This is one of the great Tibaldis from the 1950-s and tfore one of the famous first generation Tibaldi Fountain Pens. The company made a restart around 1991 and produced the still popular Bononia, Iride, Trasparente, etc. models throughout the 1990-s. The Modello 20-L was one of the less luxury Tibaldi models in the 1950-s, none the less it is a very rare find these days. The 20-L is made of very beautiful high-gloss Celluloid in a large number of Grayish colors. The pen has a Gold colored cap-band and a beautiful designed gold colored clip. It has a steel nib that is obviously plated with some high quality metal which looks like Chrome or Rhodium, but I don't know. On the nib, that looks like an M, it says " Tibaldi Iridal Extra 30 " On the barrel, in Red lettering it says " Tibaldi " ( Photograph ). I have made some close-up pictures to show you the rich color variations of this great Celluloid Fountain Pen. I've bought this pen some 6 years ago, it looks great with only a very little bit of brassing of the metal and some very minor scuffing of the Celluloid, no large scratches, no dents, no cracks: The Celluloid surfaces look great. Well, the outside of the pen is truly great for a 55 year old pen: the inside however is another matter.... When I just bought this pen I had the impression that is was an eyedropper, some experiments with water learned otherwise: This great Tibaldi 20-L lacks its filling system, after some studying I learned t should be a Classic Parker DuoFold-like push-button filling system in this pen, but the inside is empty. I've included a picture of the pen with the various parts of the barrel unscrewed. That is why I start this auction at 1/3 of the price I paid for this pen, great pen for a collection, not so great to use as a writer: maybe dipping ?? Length of pen= 124 mm / 4.88 inch and 143 mm / 5.63 inch Capped.
