� BLUE MEDICINE BUDDHA HEALING TIBETAN THANGKA PAINTING II Here is a wonderful Medicine Buddha ideal for someone in the Healing Arts or interested in the Healing nature of the Buddha. His radiant body is azure blue. His left hand is in the meditation mudra and holds a begging bowl full of long life nectar in his lap. As a sign that he gives protection from illness, his right hand is outstretched in the gesture of giving and holds the "great medicine", the myrobalan plant (a-ru-ra). � I always have a Thangka hanging in my home. You will be amazed at the impact of such a sacred object. The Tibetans say that these archetypes are common to all humanity and they stimulate your unconscious memory. This opens up a more meditative awareness inside of you. Thankas are painted with all natural vegetable dyes extracted from Himalayan plants. The colors are stabilized with a tree sap to give them great longevity. Painting a Thangka requires great concentration, which is a meditation practice in itself.
