I am very pleased to offer this exquisite and elusive TIFFANY STERLING SPOON in the PERSIAN PATTERN.
Edward C. Moore designed the Persian Tiffany sterling silver flatware pattern which was patented in 1872 and introduced in the same year. Moore had a large collection of Orientalia, including much Near Eastern artwork with examples from Persia, Syria, and India. Those interests had significant influence on the design of the Persian sterling silver flatware pattern. The spoon features Moresque designs with intricate, interlocking scrolls. The design is complex, with flowers and foliage interwoven within a network of arches and swirls with unusual geometric shape. Both the front and the back of the handles are completely covered with ornamentation except for an open space on the terminal front for engraving. The spoon measures 7 1/2 inches in length and has a substantial amount of silver in the making. It is marked TIFANY & CO - STERLING - Pat 1872 on the back of the handle. The spoon has been lightly engraved with the name Carrie on the front and shows a soft patina from use - but overall I would describe this spoon as being in VERY GOOD CONDITION. The Persian Pattern was one of Tiffany's most ornate of patterns - and remains one of their favorite and most elusive of patterns today. If you are a connoisseur of sterling flatware, keen to add rare and magnificent additions to your collection, you will definately be interested in this spoon! Good Luck!
