Wedgwood Dancing Hours Style Tile Available for purchase is a rectangular tile / plaque in the style of the Wedgwood Dancing Hours pattern, blue jasperware. It features six white classical figures in raised relief resembling a cameo. I am acting as a selling agent for the owner of this item, a long-time family friend, who has moved to a much smaller space and is paring down her collectibles. She and her late husband lived in New York City for much of their lives, and frequently traveled down south to visit relatives in his native Georgia. Upon his retirement, they permanently relocated to GA. Unfortunately, he was stricken with cancer a few years later, and died in a very short time. She decided to return north to NY, but discovered she could no longer tolerate harsh northern winters, and graced us with her presence down south once again. She is a lovely lady with great taste and style. Some of the items that I am selling for her were acquired at antique shops in New York, some are from her personal collections, and some were gifts. Now back to the tile - my friend bought two of these at a antique shop in NYC a number of years ago. The shop owner said that they had come from a home demolition, and had been used on a fireplace as part of a mantel frieze. The mortar was still on the back of them.
