DESCRIPTION : This is a FABULOUS sterling silver necklace that was handwrought in Taxco, Mexico, after 1978, by silver maestro, TILO. This necklace is masterfully crafted in a classic motif that has a great art deco look. It consists of twenty one-inch long marquis shaped lapis lazuli gemstones that are bezel set in silver ~ the color of the lapis is a rich dark navy blue with lovely white inclusions ~ quite specatcular! The lapis links are connected with decorative silver links that are "eight shaped" and accented with silver demi sps. Since the connecting links are part of the design, this piece has beautiful uninterrupted design flow. The clasp is a tongue and box closure that works perfectly and closes with a crisp 'click'. This is a classically elegant and timeless Taxco necklace ~ it is extremely well crafted and looks great on ~ an early signed and fully hallmarked art-to-wear masterpiece ~ a must have for the serious collector of vintage Mexican silver! SIZE: Inside circumference when closed is 16-1/2", width is 1", and weight is 105 grams. CONDITION : Excellent vintage condition ~ no dents/dings to the silver ~ no chips/cracks/breaks in lapis lazuli gemstones ~ no damage noted ~ just about PERFECT! HALLMARKS : "TILO, 925, TS-45, MEXICO". TILO is shown on pages 249 and 287 of Bille Hougart's highly respected source book, The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (2006 edition).
