A matching set of 4 dinner plates from the Suomi line of dinnerware by Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) for Rosenthal, Germany. Part of Rosenthal's ongoing Studio-Linie, which began in the 1950s as a collaboration with leading modern artists and designers. The award-winning Suomi (or "Finland" as the name translates) has been in continual production since its design in the mid-1970s. It has been produced with various surface decoration, some by major artists such as Eduardo Paolozzi, Victor Vasarely and Salvador Dali. The Suomi White is the dinnerware in its pure sculptural form.
