Beautiful, Original, Striking, Tinted Early Civil war 1/9 Plate Tintype in full leattte case of a Young, Handsome Confederate Soldier in Black or Dark-Colored Kepi & Battleshirt with two breast pockets & corsage or white, silk handkerchief & a fancy, silk handkerchief This is a very nice, clear image of this young, clean-shaven, blue-eyed, very confident-looking Confederate soldier. He wears a well-made, crisp dark to black kepi with patent leather chin strap. His "Jumper-like" Battleshirt appears to be light grey and has two front pockets. The pocket seen at left is bulging & seems to bear a carnation, peony, or rose corsage or a large silk handkerchief and the other houses a fancy patterned handkerchief. His beautiful, ornately patterned, tied silk tie is loosely knotted & he appears to have a dark vest beneath the open shirt. This ninth plate is stamped on the bottom: "PATENT OCT 26 1856" and the frame is stamped "HAYDENS SUPERFINE" and "WATERBURY CONN No 13". Some hazing appears within the framed area & chipping is present beneath the matte around the edges. (see pictures) The leattte case is original to the image and has nice geometric designs. This image came from a Las Vegas, NM estate & no furthur information is known regarding the soldier, nor about his unit. GUARANTEED TO BE ORIGINAL, CLEAR & BETTER THAN PICTURES TAKEN read more
