TINTYPE PHOTOGRAPH OF JESSE JAMES This tintype was the property of one `Simmie Walsh`, and was mailed to a Martha Hushburg, along with a letter of explanation, also included is a CDV of Simmie Walsh from McGregor - Photographer; Malvern, Iowa, with a date of 1876. The letter that accompanied the mailed photo read as follows; `June 27, 1873 Martha Hushburg Star Route 2 Kansas City Dear Martha, This has been the hottest summer here in Kansas City. My latest hobbie has been sewing. I made myself the most pretty red dress with a wide white sew waist band. The dress has got me a lot of attention here at the town tavern. We had a raudy group of cattle driving cow pokes. I had one of the cow poke that wants me to come up to Blue Springs and visit him when I come to Kan. City to visit you. He had a tin picture made here in town and give it to me. He said he was from up north of Kan City. He told me his name was Robert Smith. But after several visits to see me he told me his name was Jesse James. Every time he came to town was what the cattle cow pokes came into town. I came to believe he was on the drives but after knowing his real name came to believe he just came into town when all the men were here. He was the sweetest man I ever knew, he told me he would be back here in Davenport in a month or so. He never came back to the Town Tavern again. This tin picture I am sending to you. Keep it for me and I will get it from you when I come to see you this fall. As you know all of the other girls stell any and everthing they get there fingers on. I want to keep this tin picture of him. He was the most interesting man I ever fell in love with. Since he is from Kan City area, I hope I run into him there in one of the Saloon there. Most likely I want, but it dose not hurt to wish. My lamp has flickered I will see you this fall. Yours truly Simmie Walsh Post Script Take care of yourself.` both left corners clipped, size 2 3/8` x 3 1/4`
