This map is from a very scarce and important part of history.It is a double page from an atlas printed in 1877 compiled and drawn by E.L.Hayes for the Titus Simmons & Titus publishers.The format of the book covers the Upper Ohio river and valley from Pittsburgh Pa. to Cincinnati Ohio.It is NOT a copy but is the real thing.It was printed by H.J.Toudy & Co.,Phila.Pa.engraved by Worley and Bracher.The book was damaged over the years and in the 1937 flood in Ripley Ohio but survived without water damage to the majority of the inside pages.Most all pages are worn and ragged on the edges and are somewhat brittle and a little tan with age but,are complete in color and print.All color is hand painted.Throughout the engravings you will find names of people who owned the houses and businesses along the river,various towns and counties,river traffic and the railroads are identified.This particular map measures 34x16".It has a split about half way up on the crease in the middle. It covers the towns of Jethro,Wellsville and East Liverpool on the Ohio River in Columbiana county and the city of Hamilton of Hancock Co.in West Va.It shows the engine house and freight yard of the P&R RR.in Wellsville Ohio.The engravings on the reverse side show the Laughlin Bros.pottery in East Liverpool,Rockingham Yellow Queensware factory,C&P RR.and two working
