For your consideration is this piece of the ultimate in American Folk Art---a signed Peter Ompir tole tray---a larger one measuring 12 3/4" in diamter and 2 1/2" deep. I don't need to tell you about Peter Ompir if you are looking at this tray. He represents American folk art at its best. This piece is rare because of its size and has a traditional primitive early Americasn scene: man returning with partridge. The tray has some paint loss...specks on the man's coat and specks around the outside bottom and top edge, but the size of this tray is so unusual for Peter Ompir that this loss does not distract from its importance. Very identifiable Peter Ompir signature on back---a real beauty for the tole and for American folk art collectors. A very reasonable reserve on this item.
