This rare teapot was made by the American ceramic artist, Tom Hatton. Completed in 1992, this piece was part of a series of famous, infamous, and sometimes totally unknown figures riding either zebras or horses in a teapot format. Due to the intricacy of the costume, glazing created problems and the result was fewer than a dozen of these Henry VIII teapots were completed. Each pot had different color and design variations on the clothing, with this teapot being in the more subdued richer brown tones. It is 8 inches tall, 9 inches long and just over 5 inches wide. This earthenware pot is unused and in excellent condition with no cracks, nicks or flaws. T is a little hole in the side of the hat for the purpose of inserting a feather plume and the feather I have added is stuck into a soft wax which fills the hole. Sporting the "victory" hand sign of a later leader, this Henry would be a winning addition to the collection of any teapot enthusiast.
