TOM TABER WOOD DUCK Up for Auction is a Wonderful Canvasback Drake by the Very Famous Carver Tom Taber. This is an auction for a Wonderful Canvasback Drake by the very famous carver Tom Taber. Tom Taber is very well known for his excellent carving skills that render a true-to-life appearance to all of his decoys. His unique staining and coloring methods bring out the full warmth and grain of the wood, and that in turn enhances the shading and coloring of his decoys that has become his trademark. A world famous outdoorsman, he began carving decoys over thirty-some years ago, and he is recognized as certainly one of the great carvers and his pieces, like this one, will continue to be highly collectible as time goes by. The staining and shading on this bird are examples of Tom Taber's true artistic genius in making such interesting life-like decoys. The intricately detailed bill and face, carved wing tips, gracefully curved and flowing lines, and beautiful form all help to make this a very elegant decoy. This decoy has a green head with a deep greenish brown bill, breast and tail feathers. The wings are a rich caramel brown and the lower sides are a light cream color.
