UP FOR SALE IS A BEAUTIFUL 9.5" X 12.5" INCH FRAMED TONALIST OIL PAINTING BY KARL EMIL TERMOHLEN (1851-1938).
PAINTING IS SIGNED AND COMES FRAMED. FRAME HAS SOME MINOR CHIPPING ON IT. AS YOU CAN SEE THE PAINTING REQUIRES ABOUT 4 SQUARE INCHES OF IN PAINTING IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER AND NEW VARNISH. THIS SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER FOR A RESTORER. RATHER THAN HAVE IT DONE, I'M SELLING THE PAINTING UNRESTORED, AND YOU CAN REAP THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THE WORK DONE. Karl Emil Termohlen (1851–1938) Karl Emil Termohlen was a gifted member of the Tonalist movement that seized turn-of-the-century American art. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Termohlen was raised by a family of artists and began painting and writing at a young age. He spent the first part of his career in France and Italy, painting twilit landscapes along the Mediterranean, and moved to the United States at the end of the nineteenth century. There, he established himself within Chicago’s artistic community and gained recognition for his luminous, atmospheric effects.
