Wonderful well designed and executed Signed and Numbered Raku Vessel from Tony Evans" Ancient Sands Series. Numbered 499 this shows the renowned California ceramic artist's maturity in handling his art. A Squared undulating opening on Round Bowl with a flat base ("bubbled" on the interior of the base only.) Thin-walled Raku. No Condition issues: no cracks, hairlines, glaze loss, stains. The organic and crusty surface effects are intentional; it may continue to flake; glazes range from aqua blue matte to high gloss with shades of violet, lavender. Timeless Very Pleasing Form (Olla-like) not stuck in one decade but rather this will play well in many sorts of Collections as do so many things influenced by traditional artwork of Japan and China. This may remind some of the principle of wabi-sabi.
