Published in wraps, with French flaps, over 102 pages.Contains 53 pages of monochrome photographs, an introduction by Greg Hobson (Curator of Photographs at the National Media Museum), and essays and reflections upon Ray-Jones’s life & work by Martin Parr, David Alan Mellor (Professor of Art History at the University of Sussex) and Ian Walker (Professor of the History of Photography at the University of South Wales).Influenced by Bill Brandt, amongst others, and a huge influence himself upon a new generation of British photographers, Ray-Jones’s importance in the history of photography is only now fully being recognised, with a recent exhibition at the Science Museum and the National Media Museum. His book about the English, unfinished at the time of his tragically early death (aged only 30), was published posthumously by Thames & Hudson in 1974 as A Day Off: An English Journal
