Before trying to predict the winner of a race, "Top Two" asks us to first determine what "kind" of race it is, and to do that, you use one of two methods: By using any four public selectors OR by using the odds. Either way will show you if the race is "A-type," "B-type," or "C-type," and these designations allow us to clearly see if the public thinks the race is "easy" to figure, "hard to figure," or somewhere in the middle. Once you create these classifications, you rate each horse by looking at the trainer stats and the Beyer (or any speed) figures. These ratings are then moved up or down as determined by which kind of race we are reviewing. In other words, if it's an "A-type" race, you subtract points based on selector mentions (or the odds) and the No. of starters in the race. Each race classification produces a different method (adding or subtracting) to get to your final rating, and within each classification (remember, A/B/C) the numbers are adjusted according to the No. of starters.
