This is a Mercury Space Capsule model mold. The mold is 4 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide. The mold is made of a heavy Steel/Metal. It has 4 heavy duty square necked bolts and wing nuts. The interior detail of the mold is amazing, it shows every detail of the Skin, Retro Rocket Package, Observation Window, and Entry Hatch. Each mold cost thousands to make since the detail is so precise and the scale is so accurate. The mold does not have a company name on it, but the interior detail and size is similar to the Topping Mercury Space Capsule model. T is no way of knowing for sure if this is a Topping mold, but the Topping Mercury Space Capsule Model is very rare and usually sells for $2000+ in good shape. I have included a picture of the 1996 'Oct issue of Air and Space magazine w it talks about a Topping Mercury Space Capsule selling for $2,645 in the Fall of '95. This mold is in mint condition and can still be used for making plastic models. Molding Process: Injection molding involves taking plastic in form of granules or pellets and heating this material until a melt is obtained. Then the melt is forced into a split-die chamber/mold w it is allowed to cool in the desired shape. The mold is then opened and the model removed. Magazine and Topping Model not included. I have been informed by a knowledgeable collector that this is not a Topping read more
