DESCRIPTION: This is a desk model airplane of the famous, experimental aircraft, X-15. The original box says "A Topping Model" and the plane does not have a manufacturer's mark on it. The display base says "North American Aviation Inc. X-15" and has the NAA logo. The original box includes its packing materials and inserts. The model was made in Akron 8, Ohio, so it was probably made in the 1960's. The man that we got this from told us that he got this from the original owner, who acquired this through his work with North American Aviation, and was not a collector. MATERIALS: All hard plastic DIMENSIONS: Plane measures 15" long. Wingspan is 6-7/8". Scale is unknown. CONDITION: Overall VERY GOOD CONDITION with no cracks, chips, or breaks in the plastic. It was probably only briefly displayed and sat in its original box most of its life. The paint on the plane has a number of dull areas, and when you look at the "U.S. Air Force" decals on either side of the body and the "USAF" on the wing, it almost appears like the plane was painted and decaled, then painted and decaled again. Perhaps it was used as a prototype, or maybe they just didn't like the way it turned out the first time. The original box with its packing materials and inserts are in GOOD, SOLID CONDITION. This is a great plane to add to your aviation desk model collection. read more
