Here we have my collection of Tornado comics from 1979.History:Tornado was a short-lived weekly British comic published for just 22 issues by IPC Magazines (the same people who produced 2000AD and Starlord) and was released between March 1979 and August 1979.After Starlord merged with 2000AD and the cancellation of another of their titles (Action), IPC launched Tornado to make use of some remaining stories they had already commissioned for Starlord and Action.Tornado was a mixed title featuring war stories, detective, horror and Science Fiction stories. It was printed on very low quality newsprint paper and ran 5 stories of 5 to 6 pages per issue.The comic featured a somewhat (unintentionally) laughable 'superpowered' editor, probably trying to emulate the popularity of Tharg from 2000AD. He was called 'Big E' and was portrayed in photo-strips by comic book writer and artist Dave Gibbons. This aside the comic did features some great stories and characters, some of which were later merged into 2000AD.The Collection:The collection contains issues:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12(x2),13,14,16,17,19,20,21,22None of the free gifts are present.Condition:In all honesty the condition ranges from fairly ok down to quite poor as the paper stock used to produce the comic was pretty bad in the first place.
