Tea was a most sought after commodity in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The Americans and English designed elaborate and elegant "tea caddies" to preserve their tea. This Georgian example is one of the best such tea caddies we have seen. It is made of tortoise shell and the entire circumference is carved with an architectural design. The inside has a tortoise shell cover. There is a small piece missing around the inside lock. This is a must for the serious caddy collector! Circa: 1800 Dimensions: 5.5"H x 4.5"W x 4"D Finish: Good original Price: $4950.00
