COMPLETE SERVICE FOR TWELVE IN THE TOWLE LAFAYETTE PATTERN This exquisite set has been in my family since the turn of the century. Most pieces were given to my grandmother prior to her marriage in 1909 (those pieces have "BC" on them; others were added by my mother prior to her marriage in 1940 (those pieces have "AMD" on them. In all, t are 107 pieces, weighing a total of 11 lbs. 7 oz . including the knives and their handles. Each piece has the Towle Hallmark, the 925/1000 mark, and the word "STERLING" engraved. Also, peculiar to this pattern only, Towle put a fleur-de-lis and an eagle on each piece. 12- 9 15/16" dinner knives "BC" 12- 4 3/8" demitasse spoons "BC" 12- 6 1/8" teaspoons "BC" 11- 5 9/16" soup/dessert spoons "BC" 1- 5 13/16" sugar/soup/dessert spoon "AMD" with a different bowl as shown below 12- 7 7/8" tablespoons "BC" 12- 8 3/16" dinner forks "BC" 12- 7 3/4" dinner forks "BC" 12- 6 7/16" salad/dessert forks "AMD" 10- 8 11/16" serving spoons "BC" 1- 7 5/8" Master Butter KnifeThis set was lovingly used by both my grandmother and mother, but never by me in the years I have had it, so it has tarnish, and the blades of the knives appear to have some rust w they are joined at the handle, especially. I believe my mother may have put them in the dishwasher. T is an additional piece, the original 12th soup/dessert spoon with the "BC" monogram on it that you are welcome to have (FOR FREE!) as well, as it was mangled in my mother's garbage disposal! I believe that's why she bought the "odd duck" sugar/soup/dessert spoon with her initials on it to replace the mangled one. If you would like to see additional pictures of particular pieces, please let me know and I will arrange for that to happen; or if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also willing to break up the set if t are no bids on the entire collection; however, I will only sell 12 pieces of each item, not individual place setting (except for the single pieces, of course!). |
