Antique Trade Card "LADIES' OYSTER-ROOM" & "ICE-CREAM"ca.1844 S.P. McBurney, Confectioner Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaPrinted on both sides in classic and varying fonts typical of mid 19th century American printing.In searching online I have found scant mention of S.P. McBurney and his confectionary shop, save three advertisements in the Philadelphia Public Ledger newspaper in 1844 and a record of the burial of one Samuel P. McBurney in 1849 in Philadelphia.The Ledger of 6 June 1844 contains his advert stating that;"Encouraged by past patronage, S. P. McBURNEY has Removed to a larger house No. (69?) North Sixth Street, below Race, where he continues to (?) the Richest, Surest, b est made Iced Creams, Water ices, of all flavors, and Jellies, in moulds, at 50 cents per quart ; And mixed Cakes, at 33 cents per pound ; Almond, Lady, Pound and Fruit Cake, 95 ets."Again on 4 October 1844 The Ledger contains this ad.;"Superior ICE - CREAMS, In plain or fancy moulds, 30 cts per quart at S. P. McBURNEY'S, (69?) North SIXTH Street, Et side, below Race."And on 29 November 1844 this ad;"Superior ICE - CREAMS, of every flavor. 50 cts. per q., in moulds, plain and fancy ; Water - ices and Jellies, (??) and Mixed cake, 33 cu. per lb , at S.
