Hand-painted and hand-drawn detailed study of an armour and its components. Very interesting for the amateur who is studying or interested in Japanese armour.
On the outside of the scroll is writen the following: Kusunoki Masatsura Kabto-tzu Hokko Katchuzo (in essence "Details about the armour and helt of Kusunoki Masastura") On the inside as one unrolls the scroll, one reads: Yamato no Kuni Yoshinogun Minzo Nambokucho Kusunoki Masasture Kabuto [utsu? Mitsu?] Nanto (presnt-day Nara) Guso Kashi Again, in essence, that this is a detailed analysis of a particular armour and its kabuto, that was made during the Nambokucho era, having belonged to a famous samurai warrior. And indeed, it is well detailed, with every part of every section of a classic armour and 2 kubuto being described. As all of it is hand-drawn and written and some sections are also hand-painted, the entire scroll is truly splendid and interesting. Unretouched condition. T are a couple of holes made by bugs at some point in time but these have only gone through a couple of layers of the scroll as it was rolled up. The section above is shown on the 3rd photo from the top, the one with the helmet. That is the first section of the scroll, and it is signed. The scroll dates from sometime during the eary 1800s and may have been better mounted at the end of the Edo period. No pages are torn or damaged or missing. Comes from an old private collection. Over 15' long and 12" wide. Weight is slightly over 500g. SHIPPING - To USA/Can: $16 - To France/Europe: $20 - Shipped via EMS only . Not a copy or reproduction.
