This auction is for a great PARTIALLY COMPLETED quilt top I found in an Indiana estate. Offered with No Reserve. I can find no dates on any of the papers or instructions, but all appears to be of c1960 vintage. It is the TREE OF LIFE pattern, applique quilt No. 1492. The papers included indicate the cut size is 81x99 and the finished size is 79 x 97. However, I measured it and it measures somewhat bigger (cut size) - approx 86 x 102.

The first picture is of the actual top, laid out. The two lower corners are finished. The large center design is 99% completed, the two remaining corners have not been started. Included is the bag with what appears to be all of the remaining fabric applique pieces needed to complete, plus some skiens of embroidery floss. All of the work done so far is HAND STITCHED.

The papers include the full color photo of the completed quilt - as shown in my photo depicting the quilt on a bed (that is a picture of the picture), washing instructions, "Progress" working chart of embroidery stitches, "Progress" working chart of materials required to embroider, embroidery instructions, appliques, quilting instruactions.

In the other photos, I have tried to show the design, handwork, etc.

The cotton muslin is clean with no stains and all fabric colors are vibrant and clean. It was found in a plastic bag inside an old sewing box so had not been exposed to light. I also do not detect any visible mold or mildew.

It appears to me that all materials are included, but as this is a Indiana estate find and because I am not a quilter, I can not guarantee that. It is being offered AS IS so please ask any questions before bidding. All I know is that this is really beautiful and well on the way, for a quilter, to finish and create something wonderful. Buyer to pay $7.95 shipping. Thanks for looking and good luck.
