A brace of Brits!A good opportunity to obtain a pair of Triang's 1970s Britannia 4-6-2 pacifics. In the identity of 2 of the Western Region examples, with the WR tenders.70018 Flying Dutchman, & 70025 Western Star. The locos have been repainted years ago & detailed with coal in the tender/etched brass name & number plates & on 70025 wire handrails on the smoke deflectors. They are models of their time,& whilst a far cry from the super-detailed models of today, still have a charm & capture the style & grace of the real locos. They have been stored for years, but I just tried them both on a length of test track;-with a little cajoling they both moved. I suspect with a good clean (espoecially the wheels & pickups) & lube they may well run. 70025 clearly has the smoke generator as a healthy plume emitted from the chimney (and no,I don't think that was the motor cooking....!)-amazing after so long.Either strip em down & return them to front line service at the head of some maroon stock,or they would just look good parked on shed awaiting their turn over the ash-pit, 'Not to be moved'......
