Fabulous Trifari Signed Ming Fish in not so fabulous condition with green faux jade, red enameling, and rhinestones. First, let me point out the pluses here. The green faux jade is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks that I can see. The metal of the fish is also in very good condition. There is no corrosion on the metal part of the fish. The clip, on the other hand, does have some bad spots on the prongs, as well as the top of the clip. The gold tone is missing on quite a bit of this pin. Both on the front and on the back. The enamel is also in need of some help, and there are two missing rhinestones. (The first photo has rhinestones are just sitting in the empty cups, not glued in.) The entire piece pretty much needs a face lift. I am not quite sure how "rare" this particular piece is, but I can't find another like it in these colors online or any of the numerous books I have looked in. I am sure once this little guy is restored, he will be almost perfect again. Please look photos over very closely, just in case I have missed something. They tell the story better than I can. He measures with the clip completely vertical, 2 inches by 2 1/8 inches. This pin was patented in 1942, marked Trifari on the clip mechanism, and PAT. PEND on the back of the fish. Book Reference: The black enamel fish like this, can be seen on page 123 of the Brunialti's " American Costume Jewelry". Please email with any questions prior to bidding. He will made a wonderful addition to any Ming Collection!
