Cabinet Card of Troops G & I of the Rough Riders- San Antonio, TexasVery rare cabinet card of two troops of Rough Riders taken during their staging in San Antonio, Texas prior to shipping out for Cuba. The card is faded and has some condition issues. It measures 9-3/8" long by 5-1/2" high. There is a 2-1/2" triangle upper corner that is missing and someone has spliced a corner from another cabinet card. Probably the same person wrote " Volentere Company of Cowboys who took part in the Sioux Indian War in Nebraska in 1890-1891". This obviously is incorrect. Now for the good news. This is the photo that appears on page 47 of "Cowboys In Uniform- Uniforms, Arms and Equipment of the Rough Riders" by J.C. Stewart. The caption reads: " Original photograph identified as Rough Riders from G & I Troops, taken May 16, 1898 in San Antonio, Texas". The photographer's stamp on the obverse is faint but reads " A.A. Brack, Leading Photographer, Copying and Enlarging-Specialty, Made anywhere in the state on short notice, The Alamo Plaza". Please see the photos for condition and ask any questions prior to bidding. This is an important piece of Rough Rider and Spanish American War history and would make a fine addition to any collection. Thanks very much for looking.
