FOR SALE AT AUCTION IS A TROPHY MINIATURES WALES, LTD SET# - ZS46 ENTITLED "THE ZULU WAR, SET NO: - ZS46, PVT. F TAYLOR (SERVICE NUMBER) 973, B COMPANY - 24TH REGIMENT (OF FOOT)". TROPHY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS IN LATE 2006 SO THIS SET IS NOW BECOMING RARE. I HAVE INCLUDED A TROPHY MINIATURES WHITE SUN HELMET WHICH I BELIEVE WAS NOT PART OF THIS SET ZS46 WHEN I GOT IT AS PART OF THIS SALE. THESE ITEMS WERE A TINY PART OF MY RORKE'S DRIFT BATTLE DIORAMA WHICH I DECIDED I DID NOT NEED ANYMORE. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS FIGURE REPRESENTS A REAL PRIVATE FRED TAYLOR WHO WAS AT RORKE'S DRIFT ON 22-23 JANUARY 1879 DURING THE BATTLE. PER MY BOOK ENTITLED "THE MEN OF THE 24TH, THE ZULU WAY OF 1879" BY TOBY GIESE, PAGE 85 VERIFIES THAT A PVT. FRED TAYLOR WAS AT THE BATTLE. TROPHY MINIATURES HAS A BRIEF ATTESTATION PAGE INSIDE THE SET BOX WHICH DENOTES HIS YEARS OF SERVICE, ETC. WHILE I TALKED WITH LEN TAYLOR AT TROPHY'S OPERATIONS IN WALES IN JULY 1995 THE SUBJECT OF ANY OF HIS RELATIVES IN THE 1879 ZULU WAR DID NOT COME UP. HOWEVER, BILL SCHOMMER, THE FIRST OWNER OF THE TOY SOLDIER SHOPPE IN WISCONSIN, USA HAD TOLD ME THAT FRED TAYLOR WAS AN UNCLE ( I ASSUME A GREAT UNCLE OR GREAT, GREAT UNCLE ) OF LEN TAYLOR'S.
