Thisis the second printing of Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer ( Shifreen & Jackson A9b) published in Paris by Jack Kahane and his Obelisk Press in 1935. It includes the extremely rare dustjacket. Book Condition: Good Plus Dust Jacket Condition: Good Minus The second printing ("Reprinted September 1935" on verso of half-title page) consisted of 500 copies of the author's ground-breaking book. This printing switched from a graphic to a plain iron-grey stiff wrapper with a removable dustjacket due to the first printing being confiscated by British & U.S. custom authorities. Disposing of the dustjacket left one with an anonymous looking book to get through Customs. Thus the massive discarding of this dustjacket makes it extremely scarce. The pale green dustjacket designed by Kahane's son, Maurice Kahane (Girodias) bears an illustratration of a naked woman being lifted by a giant crab. Unclipped price states 50 Frs. The dustjacket's spine is missing. It is chipped on all edges with a triangular piece missing from lower right corner of the front panel (see photos). There are old tape marks on the front and back panels where they were once held together (see photos). This scarce jacket is about 90% complete with flaps in good condition. The folds between the flaps and front and back panels have been re-enforced with archival tape. The
