THIS IS A SUPER NICE LOOKING ORIGINAL ATTIC FIND. Up for Auction is a TROY CATHEDRAL STYLE RADIO ALL WOODEN CASE AND WODDEN KNOBS IT HAS BEEN SITTING UNTOUCHED FOR MANY YEARS NOW. fROM THE STYLE i AM GUESSING THIS IS FROM THE 1930-1940 TIMEFRAME, BUT NOT SURE. I bought it from a friend at work whose Father had passed away, he used to repair old vintage radios. This one does not work as far as I know. I quickly plugged it in and unplugged it because nothing happened. I have been told to be careful doing this becasue I might damage it. So not sure if it will fire up or not, but it is missing two tubes. T are three tubes in it right now, so that may be why it didn't fire up. I know it sometimes takes a few minutes to warm them up, but I do not want to chance it. So I assume that it will need restored. ONCE ALL TUBES ARE IN, T WOULD BE A TOTAL OF 5 TUBES IN THIS RADIO From what I am told, this is a very rare find. Troy only made two Cathedral type radios and this was one of them. I have watched Ebay for close to 6 months now and have not seen another Troy Cathedral style auctioned off and I have searched the internet and have not found any either, so I believe what I was told is correct. I do not see any labels on it except for on the transformer, the number t says P-6005. TROY IS STAMPED ON THE FACE PLATE I THINK AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A SCARCE MODEL, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS STYLE RADIO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I AM SELLING IT AS FOUND, IT HAS A GREAT SOLID CASE BUT DOES HAVE QUITE A FEW SCRATCHES AND IN THE ONE PICTURE, ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE TOP OF THE RADIO, T IS A LITTLE PIECE OF WOOD MISSING, BUT THIS IS NOT VISIBLE FROM THE FRONT. . I WOULD SAY THIS RADIO, KNOBS, CASE, CORD, PARTS AND MATERIAL ARE ALL ORIGINAL, NOT SURE ABOUT THE TUBES THOUGH, BUT AGAIN, I AM NOT EXPERT WITH THESE, SO PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY, THIS RADIO IS SOLD AS IS AND NO RETURN OR REFUND WILL BE OFFERED . AS I STATED IT'S BEEN SITTING FOR MANY YEARS UNTOUCHED. IT' APP. 16.5" TALL, APP. 12" LONG AND APP. 8.5" WIDE. I THINK IT WOULD BE HARD TO FIND A MORE ORIGINAL EXAMPLE OF A TROY CATHEDRAL RADIO. i WOULD THINK THAT THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PROJECT FOR SOMEONE WHO KNEW HOW TO PROPERLY RESTORE OLD RADIOS. IN MY OPINION, I THINK THAT A QUICK SAND JOB AND SOME STAIN WOULD REALLY MAKE THIS LOOK NICE. WHEN I FIRST PICKED IT UP, I DID USE SOME POLISH ON IT AND IT LOOKED PRETTY GOOD MINUS THE SCRATCHES. FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, T ARE REALLY NO DEEP SCRATCHES ON IT. AGAIN, I THINK THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PIECE TO RESTORE. I will charge the actual shipping charges plus cost of material to pack this item in. I am guessing from looking at other auctions that it will cost around $45.00 Domestic and $80.00 International. But again, I will only charge ACTUAL COST PLUS MATERIAL AND TIME TO PACK, PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU WANT IT ISNSURED AND I WILL ADD THAT TO THE TOTAL AS WELL, IF NOT INSURED, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAPPEN DURING TRANSIT, REST ASSURRED, WILL PACK IT VERY SECURELY AND WILL NOT SKIMP ON PACKING MATERIAL . GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!!
