A grand early 19thC sterling silver teapot of squat circular shape, typical of the William IV period, with elegant and pretty fluting pattern to the upper body and fluting below the spout, and complete with its original all silver finial of same design. A beautiful piece with nice sharp hallmarks to the underside namely the leopard's head for the assay town of London, the lion passant for the sterling standard guarantee, the date letter 'A' for the year 1836, and the monarch's head as duty mark. Maker's mark: CF for Charles Fox. A handsome teapot, in very nice antique condition, no large dents, or splits or wear holes. There is a discreet old strengthening plate hidden below the base of the hinge and tucked away on the ceiling of the body therefore totally invisible to the eye and this is all in silver also (no lead) Antique teapot were extensively used and hardly ever come without some 'revisions' in the course of their long past.
