Up for auction is a Vintage and Rare Tudor Pottery Vase with Buttressed type handles. This Vase looks a lot like Teco Pottery, without the Matte-Green glaze. This Vase was made sometime between 1934 to 1937 and was part of the "Hollywood Ware" or "California Ware" lines.Tudor switched from Tile production to Pottery in 1934, the company was sold in 1939, and was renamed "California Art Products".This Vase is glazed in Tudors Dead Matte Orange Glaze, it looks a lot like like a ripe pumpkin. The glaze does show charcoaling around the handles and rim. This glaze does show alot of pits and glaze pops. This is very common with this type of pottery. I think it gives it more character. This is a LARGE piece of Tudor. Vase measures 8 1/4" tall, 6 1/2" wide, 4 1/2" across the rim, and 5 1/2" across the base. Mark: Vase is NOT marked. The Tudor pieces were typically marked with paper labels. Hollywood Ware pottery has been seen with an octogon black and silver foil label while the California ware can have a rectangular copper foil label with the El Camino Real bell on the right side. A paper label in the shape of a bear is also well-known. Condition: Condition is excellent for its age. T is a professionally restored glaze flake on the rim 3/8" by 1/4" and is very hard to find. No other chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or repairs. Piece DOES have manufacturing flaws, pits, glaze pops. and t is a glaze run on one side (see photos). Add this rare and hard-to-find piece of Tudor Pottery to your arts & crafts colle ction. Thanks for your time! -WES
