Very Fine Tumbuk Lada Tandok Dagger-No Sword/Keris/kris Very Fine Tumbuk Lada Tandok Dagger Welcome to my auction, You are looking at a very fine old Tumbuk Lada Dagger , originated from Karo Highland, Northern Sumatera. A very good sample of tumbuk lada dagger with unique horn hilt shaped a mystical reptil + bird head. A traditional forged steel blade, has a single sharp edge arching narrow to the end point tips. Hilt was made from horn, supposed buffalo horn. An unique hilt shape, like a mixed up beast head from a bird and a reptil head. The beast eyes was made from gold alloy called swassa and chisel with silver. Hilt nicely decorated with traditional floral carving motif and banded with silver and gold alloy ( swassa ). Wooden scabbard typically traditional style for tumbuk lada, end tips and mouth was made from horn as hilt. A fully carved fruit shaped decoration nicely complete the scabbard. Blade is a bit rusty, but overall still in a very good condition , a beautiful patina showing it`s ages and usages. Age : Indonesia edge weapon usually made without any date or marking. Base on the condition and patina, i believe this Tumbuk Lada should be circa early of 20 th Century. Please look at my pictures.
