This original, raku pot was made by North Carolina artist and potter LeanneBlake Pizio. Raku is an ancient Japanese firing process w a piece is fired to the temperature of about 1800 degrees until the glaze is smooth and melted and pulled from the kiln with tongs. Then the piece is thrown into a container with sawdust and allowed to flame and burn. The intense reduction of the piece changes the surface of the pot. This beautiful brilliant turquoise glaze crackles and you can see the areas of turquoise that have beautiful large black crackle lines. The vase is 5 inches tall and 6 inches across the breast of the pot. The pot is 2 and 1/2 inches across the rim. !!! Raku is meant to be a decorative piece only. It is not to be used to hold liquid of any kind.!!! ** Because all pottery isfragile, I have my pieces professionally packed and shipped. If you have any questions at all please feel free to e-mail me. All pottery made by Leanne is food and drink safe. Thank you for looking.
