Turritella Agate Rock Fossil Bargain Cabochon Gemstone

Turritella is small agatized shells found in seams. It comes from Wyoming.

It is from the Miocene Epoch and is about 24 million years old. It takes a good polish and is very interesting!

Turritella is a genus of very enduring and widespread marine gastropods (aka "snails") characterized by turreted, cone shaped shells exhibiting long slender whorls with spiral ribbing. Ancestors of contemporary Turritella have left countless shells in Earth's oceans for hundreds of millions of years, all the way back to the Lower Permian Period of the Paleozoic Era. A great many of these Turritella shells became fossilized as these marine sediments lithified into limestones, and some of this rock was subsequently silicated and agatized, producing this beautiful material.

This cabochon is 35 mm by 26 mm and 6 mm thick.

Metaphysical Properties: Turitella is known as a protective stone. As with all fossils, it is said to help increase accomplishments in the area of business and add excellence to one's environment. It also aids one in being open to change and new ideas. Traditionally, fossils have been used to aid in curing diseases and ailments of the skeletal system, bones, hands, and feet.
